Pact and TAC agree merger

TAC (Teledwyr Annibynnol Cymru/Welsh Independent Producers) and Pact, the trade bodies representing the interests of the independent television sector in Wales and UK respectively, have announced the approval of joint heads of agreement to move towards a formal merger, following the Pact Council meeting and AGM yesterday, 6th December. Revised cultural test for British film

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport has announced a revised Cultural Test for British Film. This follows the state aid approval by the European Commission on 22 November 2006. All Schedule 1 films claiming the new film tax relief will be required to pass this test. Full story

Ffresh films at Aber

The Ffresh Student Moving Image Festival, held annually in Aberystwyth, has received the full commitment of the newly established Film Agency for Wales, which has adopted the event, backing it with a substantial grant and a determination to build upon its successes and enhance it for 2007. The Film Agency's £45,000 funding package for the festival, which takes place from Feb 15 – 16 2007, at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, makes the Film Agency the festival's largest single contributor. Inside Pictures, the highly respected film business training programme, will be accepting applications from 9 October 2006. From this year, it will be one of the film industry programmes presented by the Film Business Academy at Cass Business School, and will be enhanced by the addition of business skills training such as leadership skills, business planning and entrepreneurship.
