Mugabe and the White African

Mugabe and the White African Named Best Documentary

A powerful and intimate feature-length documentary about the Mugabe regime, named Best Documentary at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA), has been nominated for a BAFTA.

Mugabe and the White African was directed by Andrew Thompson and Lucy Bailey and is the account of a farmer's challenge to the violent Land Reform program in Zimbabwe. It is currently showing in London cinemas and will open at Chapter Arts Centre on 29th January.

Funded by the Film Agency for Wales and co-financed with Molinaire, private investors and More 4 for their True Stories strand, Mugabe and the White African is the debut feature produced by Welsh filmmaker, Elizabeth Morgan Hemlock, of Arturi Films. It has additionally won the the World Feature at American Film Institute’s Silverdocs; been selected for prestigious Hotdocs and Docuweeks screenings in North America; nominated for the Best Documentary IDA (International Documentary Association) award and selected for the London Film Festival.
