The Film Agency for Wales has today (6 June) announced that Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd has agreed to lend his support to the first international film and music festival for Wales to be held in venues across Cardiff this November.
The renowned actor, who has made his name with international successes including Titanic and The Fantastic Four, said of the festival: 'What is there not to be supportive of? SOUNDTRACK's ambitious program and distinctive theme is a pleasure to hear about.'
He added: 'I am always proud when a dynamic event comes from Wales. I'm delighted that SOUNDTRACK is taking on and celebrating the best of the International and Welsh film and music industry, and I am sure it will establish itself in a prominent position amongst other film festivals across the world.'
Gruffudd, who was born in the village of Llwydcoed near the town of Aberdare, joins musician and frontman of the Manic Street Preachers, James Dean Bradfield, as a supporter of the festival.
Hosted by the Film Agency for Wales, SOUNDTRACK supersedes Cardiff Film Festival and will be based on film music. Running from 26 – 29 November 2008, the annual event will give the Welsh public and filmmakers the opportunity to interact with major international figures in the film and music industry. More than 7000 people are expected to attend the three day event.
