Peter Edwards

Chairman of the Film Agency for Wales

Peter Edwards, Chairman was appointed to the Board from its inception on the 14 July 2006. He brings his considerable experience in development and production to bear as the previous and long-standing Head of Drama at ITV Wales, as well as his creative and business acumen from running his own independent company.

Sybil Crouch

Vice Chairman

Sybil Crouch, Vice Chairman has significant cinema exhibition experience as Director of Taliesin Arts Centre, Swansea; a Director of the Wales One World Film Festival and as a founder member of the Wales Specialist Cinema Exhibition Group. Sybil chaired the Arts Council of Wales from 1999 – 2003.

Cath Davies

Board Member

Cath Davies is a lecturer on the Media Studies with Visual Cultures undergraduate degree programme at UWIC. From 1994 – 2004, she taught A level Film Studies at Coleg Glan Hafren, Cardiff’s tertiary college. During this period, she was involved in examining Film Studies for the WJEC, in addition to undertaking film education projects ranging from teaching short courses in film at Chapter, to secondary school workshops within South Wales' Valleys cinemas.

Will Machin

Board Member

Will Machin As Head of Distribution at Ealing Studios, Will has more than 13 years of experience in film production, sales and distribution. Formerly, Will led ThinkFilm International for Capitol Films and was Co-President of International Sales for Lolafilms. Will then went on to launch the international sales arm of Carnaby Films Plc, an EIS backed film production and sales company.

Alison James

Board Member

Alison James is a specialist on the French market, having reported extensively on the European film and television industries as Paris Bureau Chief for leading industry publication Variety from 2000-2007. She continues to contribute articles to Variety’s weekly edition. Alison recently launched a new Paris-based independent company, Lutetia Productions, to develop and produce English and French language films, and to offer line production and consulting services to the international film industry.

Graham Walters

Board Member

Graham Walters is a barrister in a Cardiff based private practice, Civitas Law, the first specialist civil and public law set of chambers in Wales, established in 2008. He works extensively with public authorities and represents and advises them on a wide range of matters. He is on the panel of counsel for the Welsh Assembly Government and the legislative panel of the National Assembly for Wales, an Assistant Boundary Commissioner, a committee member of the Wales Commercial Law Association and chair of the Wales and Chester Circuit Legislative group.

Delyth Evans

Board Member

Delyth Evans – Currently a policy communications consultant across the public and private sector, Delyth is a former Deputy Minister for Culture in the Welsh Assembly Govt (2000-2003); special advisor to the First Minister (1999-2000), arts and heritage consultant (Adrian Ellis Associates) and journalist (BBC Radio 4, HTV Wales and Sky News). 

Rebekah Gilbertson

Board Member

Rebekah Gilbertson – is a producer who co-founded Welsh based production company, Rainy Days Productions, with one of Wales’ greatest director exports, Marc Evans, and is currently in production on her second feature directed by Marc, Patagonia. Her debut feature was  The Edge of Love starring Mathew Rhys, Kiera Knightley and Sienna Miller.  Rebekah was recently names ‘Best Newcomer’ by Women in Film, and is an alumnus of the highly regarded Inside Pictures producers’ initiative.

Gethin Scourfield

Board Member

Gethin Scourfield – is a Welsh producer and EAVE alumni with over 20 years experience. He was a co-founder of successful Welsh production companies Criw Byw and Boda before joining the BBC as an Executive Producer. He is currently working as an independent producer with Fiction Factory and Levain Film Productions.

Thomas Dillon

Board Member

Thomas Dillon – a consultant specialising in intellectual property and the audiovisual sector, formerly Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at the Motion Picture Association, Brussels. Currently also Chairman of the Creative Advantage Fund (venture capital fund for the creative industries).

Jane Dauncey

Board Member

Jane Dauncey – is a long-standing producer of considerable network drama experience and company director of Machine Productions. Strengths include her strong broadcasting links at a time when collaborative inter-sector relationships are key, as well as a well thought through company growth strategy, including the early sourcing of private capital and talent relationships.  Former Chair of Made in Wales and drama producer with the BBC.  Recently produced the feature-length drama ‘Zig Zag Love’ with executive producer Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland).

Rob Kraitt

Board Member

Rob Kraitt – Head of the Media Department and Associate Director of AP Watt Literary Agency, Rob has wide ranging experience across representing writing and directing talent; reading and inputting into a vast array of creative feature material; and working with the producers, co-financiers and distributors/sales agents who come together to finance them.  Rob started his career as a freelance script editor and consultant for many of the top film production companies in the UK including Universal, Pathé Productions, Miramax, Ruby Films and the European Media Development Agency. Prior to joining A P Watt in September 2000, he was acting literary executive at Working Title Films, acquiring books for film development.

Heather Stewart

Board Member

Heather Stewart – currently Cultural Programme Director for the BFI, Heather has been a long-standing and committed member of the senior management and Executive of the British Film Institute, responsible for the BFI National Film Archive, the BFI National Film Library and all UK film distribution, international sales, book and magazine publishing and the BFI partnerships office.  Heather’s experience spans (digital) archiving, film distribution, cinema exhibition and education.  She is overseeing significant strategic and financial work on behalf of the BFI, including spearheading the Comprehensive Spending Review bid which secured £25m to safeguard archives and increase accessibility.  Previously Heather’s portfolio included BFI Education, and she has been a key representative on the formulation of the UK-wide Education Strategy.  Until recently, Heather was Chair of the Arts Council of England’s Film and Video Panel, and she sits on Screen Yorkshire’s Revitalising the Regions Programme Board.

Rhiannon Wyn Hughes

Board Member

Rhiannon Wyn Hughes – is a County Councillor and on a local government level has worked with Welsh cinema exhibitor, the SCALA in Prestatyn, for more than 15 years.  Rhiannon has over 30 years experience running small independent businesses. This appointment will take effect once Rhiannon has stepped down from the Arts Council of Wales’ board (March 2010).
